There is infinite beauty in the world if we are willing to see it, and we have the power within us to create even more beauty. One of the phrases we use to describe our mission as a spiritual community is “changing the world one heart at a time.” We believe that this is truly the only way to heal and transform a world plagued by conflict and fear, and we begin by “being the change we wish to see in the world,” as we are so beautifully encouraged by Gandhi.

This gallery of exceptional images began as an idea born in the mind and heart of renowned portrait artist, Frank Tauriello, a member of our congregation (see more about him in the section below). Frank’s subjects over the years have included many notable persons in public life. During the past year, Frank has been  inspired to honor and express his gratitude for the work of several individuals by creating portraits depicting them as they are in his spiritual vision – angels of light, love, learning, and evolving spiritual consciousness. It is not the particular work they have chosen, but the way in which they have chosen to do it that inspired our artist to create a portrait of them.

These are people who, each in his or her own way, have blazed paths for others to follow. They have helped created the conditions in which love can blossom, have made spiritual teaching available to millions of people, have given of themselves in terms of the three T’s – time, treasure, and talent, and have opened their hearts so that others might be encouraged to do the same.

Frank not only sees with the eyes of an artist, but with the eyes of love. Here at Heartlight, we feel deeply blessed to
have a person of such powerful vision and the skills to make the vision come alive. He sees the ‘angel wings’ and, in truth, there are millions of you out there whose wings are showing these days, and we are deeply grateful for you, too.

The Butterfly Effect

From a purely scientific perspective, the Butterfly Effect is a metaphor that encapsulates the concept of sensitive dependence on initial conditions in chaos theory. In other words, the smallest events or changes can have more far-reaching consequences than most of us would imagine.

From a spiritual perspective, we believe that every thought, word, and deed has consequences; every loving thought,
every kind word, every charitable act has the power to transform our world for the better. For every mind that is
broadened with knowledge, every heart that is opened to the flow of Love, this humanity as a whole is uplifted and
moved closer to an existence in which peace and harmony will flourish.

Butterflies, as well as angel wings, form an integral part of the composition of each of these beautiful portraits,
reminding us of how our own choices, however seemingly minor, will alter the world.

One final note: these images are not for sale, and may not be reproduced. Even though each of these people could certainly be considered a celebrity in their various fields of endeavor, we believe their faces belong to them. We ask each of you who view these images to please, as a matter of honor and integrity, not copy them or post them anywhere on the web. Thank you. The gallery is a both a tribute and a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to each of them.

About the Artist

A native of New York, Frank Tauriello is a well-known California portraitist living in Orange County. Born in Rochester, NY, he received a bachelor of Fine Arts degree Cum Laude from Syracuse University. His graduate work spans four years at the Art Students League of New York under Frank J. Reilly. From 1963 to the present, Tauriello has been a private teacher, demonstrating instructor and juror for the California Art Association and the American Society of Portrait Artists. His portrait subjects have included state governors, jurists, political leaders such as John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, and celebrity figures such as Clint Eastwood and Merv Griffin. His straightforward, yet sensitive style of painting emphasizes his intense ability to recreate his subject’s persona on canvas.

Frank has been a student of New Thought spirituality for most of his life. His spiritual consciousness shines through the images he creates as he continues to feel a growing sense of his connection to all humankind, and the Spirit that runs through every atom of creation.
